Avoiding Cloudiness/Thickening/Dilution after mixing EO/FO on Liquid Castile Soap

Hi fellow Soap Makers

Adni here and I just started making 100% VOO castile liquid soap and it turned out great when unscented. The colour is golden and translucent. Foam is small but good enough for face wash and hand wash. But when I add certain EO/FO (Clary Sage EO, Oud FO) they become thick and jelly-ish. And when I add Bergamot and Verbena EO, they become diluted. And with all EO/FO added, they become cloudy.

Any tips on fixing this?

Much appreciated!

Adni

Hello Adni,

It would be easier to help you if you put all the formula.

Anyway cloudiness may result from undissolved compounds, it can be solved by adding a solubilizer such as PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil, Sorbitan, Polysorbates, ...
In some cases it can be solved by adding glycerin or monopropylene glycol.

As for the viscosity fluctuations you can remove it by adding some sugar to return to the viscosity of the water. then thicken using HPMC or HEC ...
