    Even after complete saponification, handmade soap has a high pH that will alter the qualities of many plants. Also, soap is a wash-off product that isn't on the skin very long. Instead of soap, consider infusing the oils with these herbs, and then use the infused oils to make lotions.

    Someone over on Soapmaking Forum just alerted everyone to the fact that SoapmakingFriend now offers both virgin coconut oil and 76º coconut oil in the oils list. Even though these are the same thing, they have wildly different SAP values. Can anyone explain/fix this?

    Are you listing the goat milk in the custom additive box? If so, you need to check the box below it that says "Liquid Discount." Then the calculator knows that you are using goat milk instead of some or all of the water needed.

    If you know the fatty acid profile, you can click Add New to put the oil into the database for your own use.

    Oh no! Have you tried putting the container of FO into your mold? That will stop you from pouring your soap into the mold without FO. This trick doesn't work for designs that are layered into one pot before pouring, but it does work well for designs that are split into several different containers.
