In one thread I read, the maker wanted to use 100% milk as the liquid. Which brings up a few questions. Whole cow milk is generally 87-88% water, 3.2-5.0% fat, depending on the breed, and goat's milk is usually close to those percentages. If I wanted to liquid discount only 88% is there a way to do that in the calculator, or do I have to do this manually. How can I add the correct grams of fat to my oils total? All this seems not to matter much but I'm working on fine tuning recipes.
Any suggested techniques used to add lye to milk without burning it? I've frozen it and that works somewhat, but goat milk ends up leaving gobs of fat in the lye water. It separates out when I've frozen it. Again, I'd like to add the expected fat from the milk to my oil totals.
Other ingredients don't seem to matter to the calculator, namely Glycerin as an example. Can you add too much? It doesn't seem so when attempting a clear soap. However, not a lot of experience with that.
