soap production that went wrong : Weigh the oil in gr or ml

Today I made a soap that went wrong. I've always made soap by weighing the oils on a scale, for example for 200 ml of oil I weigh 200 g of oil. I thought it was the same as for water, i.e. 1 kg of water = 1 litre of water. I discovered that what I was doing was wrong because the density of oils is different from the density of water. To rectify this I used graduated containers to measure the quantity of oil in Ml. The result was that the oil and soda mixture turned, which didn't happen with my first wrong method. Always measure every thing (every single thing) by weight. Well, I do see some things like additives (salt, color) in teaspoons or tablespoons, but even those really should be in grams or ounces.
