I’m asking because, personally, I’ve felt embarrassed to show my soaps. I’d really appreciate some positive reinforcement! ♥️

Personally, I think it adds character! My cousin made some flower shaped molds and the backs came with the ash, it was so pretty!
I think watched a video that said spray the top with a light mist of alcohol every 10 or 15m and it would prevent the ash. Not sure how everyone else would feel about that.

Thank you for your response. Honestly, I’ve been a little shy to show my work. I know a lot of people try the alcohol trick, and I’ve done it myself, though it hasn’t always worked for me. What I decided to do to solve the problem long-term was adjust the concentration level of the lye. Since adjusting my recipe, I’ve made about three batches and none of them have had soda ash so fingers crossed it’s continues to work for me. Here’s my newest soap- let’s try this bravery thing!

@soapforbuns They look great. I use to get lots of soda ash on my soaps also, but once I adjust the lye concentrate, it disappeared. if you have a portable steamer that will work also; it makes a shiny glossy finish .
