Hi! I’m brand new. As I have never EVER made soap before. I need advice and LLOOTTSSS of it. It you could help I would REALLY appreciate it. I need like step by step instructions. And videos are a no for me…So, I know I’m being picky here, but I would really appreciate help! Thank you so very much for even reading this. 😁

Hey, anyone have any help?😭 I need help!!! Please!!🥲🥹

We’d love to help, but without showing video ‘how to’ and without knowing what you need, it’s not really possible. There are tutorials on our site: Soapmaking Friend Magazine and most libraries have good old fashioned type books (and new books too) on soapmaking.

Step-by-step:
100% coconut oil with 20% superfat recipe
  • 500g coconut oil (the 76 degree kind, the kind that’s solid and white in a cool, room-temperature store)
  • 125 grams distilled water
  • 73.3 grams (I use food grade) sodium hydroxide (lye)
  1. Weigh out your ingredients in containers appropriate for each substance. Remember, the water will have lye poured into it, so choose plastic mixing containers with the number 5 or number 2 in the recycle symbol on the bottom or use stainless steel. Never glass! Check Lowe’s or similar for plastic paint-mixing containers.
  2. In a well-ventilated area, slowly stir (with a stainless steel spoon) the lye into the distilled water. Don’t forget to wear chemical-safe gloves (lye will eat your skin..and bone!), a respirator mask, and goggles! A drop of lye water in your eye can blind you for life. Stir continuously several minutes until lye is fully dissolved. (Note: NEVER pour the water into the lye. Pour the lye into the water.)
  3. While the lye water is cooling, melt your coconut oil in the microwave in short spurts. Stir it in between spurts with a silicone or stainless steel spoon. Ensure there are no white clumps left.
  4. Wait. Do some crochet. Read a book. Make a phone call. Peek in on other soap. :) When the coconut oil and lye water have cooled and are within 10 degrees of each other (I went with around 85-95 degrees F - used a digital cooking thermometer to check), proceed to step 5.
  5. Use a fine-meshed stainless steel strainer to pour the lye water down the back of a silicone spoon or shaft of stick blender (this helps reduce bubbles) into the melted coconut oil. Hand-stir for 5 minutes.
  6. Stick-blend in spurts or hand-whisk with stainless steel or silicone whisker until the batter looks like runny pancake mix (i.e. until it comes to a light trace). The batter should sit on top of the batter when you drizzle some over the mix from the blender. Don’t forget to burp your stick blender first if using one, to help prevent air bubbles.
  7. Pour 1/4 into mold. Bang mold on table to release any air bubbles. Repeat until it’s all in the mold.
  8. Place mold in a box that has a cover or tight-fitting lid. I used a cardboard box from Amazon with a monopoly game on top holding it closed.
  9. Check hardness every couple of hours. :) (It will harden in several hours or overnight, actually.)
  10. Cut, let cure 4-6 weeks.

Thank you! I have made some melt and pour several times now! I like it quite a bit! I appreciate the help!!! Can’t wait to make some more!😉
