Cost Per Bar

I have searched the forum and cannot figure this out. I am trying to determine my cost per bar. I tried putting the per bar size after cure of 3.75oz and 6 portions (I use cavity molds) and a second "portion" bc I had enough to do one smaller mold. The system only added one 3.75 bar and the 3.25 bar and didn't multiply the 6 portions of the larger bars. Am I making sense? So it said it cost me $4.00. So I did the math myself and entered 22.5oz for the "portion" that was 6 bars of 3.75oz and it increased the total cost but it doesnt show a cost per bar. I am guessing I just always have to figure out my per bar cost offline? Should I put a 6 in the First Group with the total ounces so I know it was six bars?

When you do the batch, you put in the portion size in, and the number. I’m confused because you said “the system did it”. What did you enter when you clicked the batch to open it?

Thank you for responding! When I first opened the batch there was nothing in the Portions Section. (I didnt do this when I made the batch) The first time I did it I thought I was supposed to put the 6 as the Number of Portions and the average weight of each of the six bars as the portion size. I realized that didn't work because it gave me almost the same cost for 6 bars as for one. So I realized I had to put TOTAL weight of the six bars in the Portion size. That cost seems right - so should I have 6 in the Number of Portions and then the full weight. My smaller bar was so close in size I could easily just make it the total weight and 7 portions to come up with bar cost. Do people weigh each bar and enter them separately or since most people use loaf molds just do the whole loaf. I guess I thought the system would give me a "cost per bar" but that is only if I enter each bar individually?

I"m not following your steps. I click "new batch":

and then choose my recipe.
I fill out the size bars I'm making and the shrinking/curing size.


I choose which items to use from inventory (some are 'extras' so I don't have a cost for them, but generally there is a cost).:


And go to the bottom and click "save".
Then I see my total cost of each bar: (this is not accurate since it's just a quick example and I didn't use all of the ingredients, packaging, etc) but you can get the idea:


Are you not seeing the same screens, or not seeing your inventory in the bottom? It seems like it's working fine for me.

Hmm.. I am doing basically the same thing I think. You are putting 7 bars because that is what your batch will make and the weight of each bar. So the $0.31 is the cost per bar right? But then your total cost is $0.31 but that cannot be right because you did 7 bars. See why I am confused - its either the total cost of the batch or cost of the bar - you cannot have both. In my first photo I did it like you, but it said my "total cost" was $4.31, but that would only be the cost of 1 small bar and 1 regular bar, not all 6 regular bars. Since cost per bar is really what I am looking at I will keep doing like you do. Thanks so much for your help!!
