Cost of Portion Calculations

Can someone please help me understand how the Cost of Portion is calculated? Which sums are included in it and how does it determine the cost of portion? When I make a batch of soap, I cut ~60 bars and what is left I cut into sample soaps but the calculations it shows doesn’t seem accurate.

Your cost per portion would be based on the information you provide. If you have 60 bars, then you have to ensure that your input is 60 bars of the size you specify in order to calculate the costs.

I think maybe I was not clear of what I am asking. I know HOW to determine my costs. My question was more about how Soapmaking Friend calculates it. My numbers and Soapmaking Friend are not matching up so I need to know the formula that Soapmaking Friend is using.

Something seems off on these calculations, this is why I was trying to figure out how the system determines cost of portions. I wish it included the packaging as part of that cost so that I don’t have to go through and add that to the cost of portion myself to determine COGS.

It does include packaging- if you have packaging in your inventory/supplies.

I do have packaging in the inventory and added it to the batch but it prices the packaging separately. So do I have to figure out cost per package and then add that to the cost per portion?
