    Trouble with Auto Calculations

By the way, why am I classified New member? I have asked this question before but did not get a satisfactory answer by Yooper. She said maybe I am a new contributor in the forum but it says I have made 18 contributions, and it should not matter as I am still not a new member having joined in...

    Trouble with Auto Calculations

Hi Alan When I substitute other liquids for water, the liquid calculation box is the last calculation before additional ingredients. Is it possible to have liquid and liquid substitutes immediately below liquid required in the Liquid and NaOH part? (Sorry, too many liquids) This would give...

    Liquid:Lye ratio for Hybrid soapmaking

Here's a screenshot. Where it says New Member. I posted a questions sometime in October last year I think about giving me negative numbers, and then a week or so ago with the liquid being so low. I still haven't received a response to both questions. On the last question, I attached the...

    Liquid:Lye ratio for Hybrid soapmaking

I purchased the original recipe from Amanda. I have used it since 2017 or early 2018. This is the recipe I had in my files with soapmakingfriend.com in 2020 when I entered it. Back then, you can see that the recipe had 5:1 water to lye ratio. I think I used a different soap calculator when I...

    Liquid:Lye ratio for Hybrid soapmaking

I have created the recipe using your calculator before. I just need to tweak it using different oils. Think shaving soap. It is not weird. It is part of my line for the last 8 years or so. Just trying to experiment another type of soap with paste consistency. Your calculator worked before until...

    Liquid:Lye ratio for Hybrid soapmaking

I tried ticking off solid because it is still essentially solid although not hard, it still would not take 5:1 liquid:lye ratio. The soap is really neither solid nor liquid in their usual meaning. It is not liquid; solid but not hard.

    Liquid:Lye ratio for Hybrid soapmaking

I am using hot process for this recipe that's why I need it to be 5:1. Should I tick hot process instead of hybrid? By hybrid, my understanding is it uses both potash and sodium hydroxide.

    Liquid:Lye ratio for Hybrid soapmaking

Hi Alan, I tried to create a recipe using both NaH and Potash and want the liquid:lye ratio to be 5:1. It defaults to 3.5:1. Is there a way to bypass this ratio? I made a similar recipe in 2020 using the ration 5:1 with no problem. I can't do it anymore. I even tried editing the old recipe...

    We need requests!

Thanks Alan. Just weary about the result. At the moment, I am just comparing with other recipes to make it work. I might actually use other calculators to double check.

How do you record water replacement in recipe?

Hi I use my partner's home brewed beer. I just replace water with beer 1:1. I use master batch lye 1:1 water = lye or 50% concentration. So any beer used is equal to the additional water or liquid requirement (outside of master batch lye). The same if I use any other form of liquid (aloe...

    We need requests!

Hi Alan Thanks for your reply. What about my other observations. In addition to the second observation, I reentered my oils and other info and I got a different water requirement. Not sure what happened there and I am now hesitant to use the calculator. Don't even know what a negative water...

What could make the inside of my soap so gooey/nasty?

probably need to read on the properties of the oils you want to use before deciding whether that is what you need for the result you want.

    We need requests!

I have not been soaping as frequently as I have been. Last night, I tried tweaking some of my old recipes and I found it tedious to print a copy compared to the previous hit print and voila - recipe is printed! It wants me to save and what comes up just confused me. Had to email to myself and...
