Super Liquidy Batter-Can it be saved?

I should also share that I didn’t heat up my fats and oils together, if that matters. The confusing part of the calculator was the Liquid Required, since I assumed once the Ready to Use Master Batch Lye Solution was made, I could just add that amount to my fats and oils. I was able to get the...

Super Liquidy Batter-Can it be saved?

I’ve read that masterbatching is helpful for soap making? I’m only doing small batches at a time on weekends. So if I had to do it over again, stick with the Master Batch Lye Weight given, change the ratio to 2:1, and skip the Liquid Required amount all together. At the end of the day, it’s...

Super Liquidy Batter-Can it be saved?

I used the calculations from Classic Bells on masterbatching lye to get the 33% lye concentration. I kept the 1:1 ratio, but yes, I did add more water, thinking that was what the Liquid Required meant.

Super Liquidy Batter-Can it be saved?

I tried my hand at using masterbatch lye (33% concentration) for a new cold process recipe. I ran the numbers through the Soapmaking Friend calculator and it gave me an amount for Master Batch Lye Weight and Liquid Required. Almost 24 hours later, the batter is still liquid. Do I toss the batch...

    Is this soda ash?

I might have added too much shea butter and it's more humid than normal in my area this summer. I was able to wipe it off with wet fingers and it just felt soapy. Next time I just have to be mindful of water and oils, right? 🙃

    Is this soda ash?

I made this rebactch soap a few months ago and stored it in the regular container. The bars of the same soap batter don’t have it as bad. It rubs off like soda ash, it just seem to have come on later than normal.

    Who are you?

This site is super helpful! I made melt and pour soaps for about a year and was ready to jump to cold process. All the stats in the calculator are so helpful. And the forum is great too. Thanks for making this available AND free.

Thick Soap Batter, what am I doing/not doing?

Thank you Thank you for the advice! I’m logging my results and keeping the recipe print outs. I’ve seen a recipe that uses cocoa and shea butter that I want to try, but I’m worried about the thickness issue. My partner says that as long as it lathers up and smells good, people will like it...

Thick Soap Batter, what am I doing/not doing?

I'm using essential oils and fat oils from the store, except for palm oil which I get from Bramble Berry. I'm working with small yields, only 2 pounds, so I'm probably still over mixing and not letting the batter rest. (I've been watching too many YouTube videos!) The recipe I used has the...

Thick Soap Batter, what am I doing/not doing?

Hello! I'm new to the cold process soap making game; I just made my third batch and it turned out thick again. My first batch I over blended, the second batch I added my essential oil blend at late trace and the third time, it riced on me! I've seen were some scents can accelerate the soap...
