Thank you for your patience, as it took a while to find the issue. While the recipes are basically the same, there is a major difference. We looked at those two recipes specifically.
The two recipes are not quite using the same oils. The Autumn Leaves recipe uses the built-in “Palm Oil”, while the Oatmeal, Milk and Honey recipe uses a custom oil called “Palm Oil, no stir”. A custom oil is one your added yourself usually. That custom oil has no fatty acid values filled in, so the calculator has nothing to count for 30% of the recipe, and that is why the Saturated : Unsaturated ratio and the other properties come out low. Batch size, honey, oatmeal and silk have no effect on those numbers.
There are two ways to fix it:
- Edit the custom “Palm Oil, no stir” and enter its fatty acids. You can copy them from the built-in Palm Oil (palmitic 44, stearic 5, oleic 39, linoleic 10, and any others it lists). This fixes every recipe that uses that oil at once.
- Or swap it for the built-in Palm Oil in the recipe.
Any other recipes showing odd properties are almost certainly using this same custom oil.
The custom “Palm Oil, no stir” also has its SAP value set to 0, and that affects more than the properties display. The calculator uses SAP to work out the lye, so in any recipe using that oil the palm portion is getting no lye, and the lye amount shown is too low (around 30% low on this recipe).
Please do not make another batch from these recipes until it is fixed. The simplest fix is to swap the custom oil for the built-in Palm Oil in each recipe. If you would prefer to keep the custom oil, edit it and copy the SAP value and the fatty acids from the built-in Palm Oil.
If you have already made a batch from one of these recipes, it will not be lye heavy or harsh. It will have far more unsaponified oil than intended, so expect a softer, oilier bar that may not keep as long.
