I made my first soap in 2003 at age 60 -- mostly self-taught with books from the library. I made soap for a year before dedicating a year to learning about using herbs and essential oils. I joined a soapmaking forum in 2004 and the rest is history. I joined the Liquid Soapmakers Yahoo Group in 2004. There I learned to make all my green cleaning products, liquid shampoo, foamers and the like. I make all my own bath and body products. My most popular products are a mild castile soap, a pain relief balm and a lotion formula for arthritis. I was a member of the Southern Soapers Yahoo Group when it was a "by invitation only" group. There I met members who hired me to make soap for them. I did wholesale sales up until I retired in 2017. To this day, I soap to maintain my sanity. It "takes me away" and it's cheaper than therapy.
