    Castor Oil Soap

Pure castor oil soap for Turkey red dyeing. Made to try to be as neutral as possible without excess alkali or oil (the -3% superfat tries to take into account the impurity of the lye that is being used). Note that pure castor oil traces very quickly, so immersion blender should not be used!

    Castor Oil Soap - Liles

This is the recipe Liles uses for castor oil soap in The Art and Craft of Natural Dyeing. He cuts it up and dissolves it in 2 gallons distilled water to make the 'oil' for turkey red dyeing, but says it is too alkaline and acid must be added to get pH to 8-9.
