Instructions:

  • Measure the ingredients - Check the "Do not forget" section bellow for the rest of the additives.
  • Prepare the tools you will be using: A soap mold, a hand-mixer, a pot (that can take at least twice the total amount of this recipe), a spatula
  • If you are using Citric Acid or Honey, dilute it in the water first
  • Add the Lye to the Water (never the other way around!)
  • In a pot on the lit stove, add the Lard and bring it to 50°C to 70°C. Maintain this temperature
  • Once the lard is melted, add the Lye solution and mix using the hand-mixer
  • After 30-60 seconds (after a very thick trace and before the expansion of the recipe), add the Sodium Lactate and mix
  • If necessary, cover the pot in order to concentrate the heat and accelerate the gel phase
  • After the gel phase is completed add the Mango Butter and mix
  • After adding the Mango Butter, add the Yogurt and mix
  • Turn off the heat and place the soap into the mold
  • After 24h to 48h remove the soap from the mold and let it cure for 2 to 4 weeks

Do not forget

to add to the lye solution:

Citric Acid: 1,5% of the oil total. Dissolve the citric acid in the water before adding the lye
Or, Honey: 1 Tablespoon. Mix with a little bit of water first to make it thinner. Add the honey directly to the cool/room temp lye solution upfront.
(This is so that soap scum isn't formed and the soap is more soluble in hard water.)

to add to mixture:

Sodium Lactate: 3 to 4% total oil weight. Add 30-60 seconds after mixing the oils and lye solution, after a very thick trace and before the expansion of the recipe. Or Sodium Chloride: use 0,05-1%. Both ingredients help with the fluidity and the hardness of the soap.

to add after the cooking process:

3% Mango Butter: Our superfat.
Yogurt: 2-5% (optional): Add room temperature yogurt after the cooking process has completed, but before other additives (colorants). This helps with the fluidity of the soap.
