Woodland Meadow Milk & Honey Soap

Notes:
  • Method
  • Reserve the small milk portions needed for sugar and honey BEFORE freezing. They are part of the calculator liquid, not
    extra liquid.
  • Dissolve sugar in its reserved milk, return that to the main milk, and freeze/slush. Keep the honey/milk mixture separate
    for addition at light emulsion.
  • Slowly add NaOH to frozen/slushy milk, keeping the mixture as cool as practical. Once the lye solution is below 120 F, stir in sodium lactate.
  • Melt coconut oil, lard and kokum. Add olive and castor oils. Allow to cool while keeping hard fats fully melted
  • Add the pre-dispersed 10 g kaolin to ALL the oils and mix thoroughly.
  • Add your 15 g honey, already thinned with the reserved portion of goat milk, to the oils.
  • Add your 30 g Woodland Meadow EO blend to the oils.
  • Combine lye solution and oils. Pulse the stick blender very briefly, alternating with hand stirring. Your goal is stable emulsion—not visible trace.
  • As soon as it is emulsified, pour off about 20–25% of the batter for your colored portion. Add your pre-dispersed mica to that small portion and HAND STIR it in. Don't stick-blend it unless absolutely necessary. Pour your cream base and make your colored swirl.
  • Because milk + sugar + honey generate heat, do not heavily insulate. Leave lightly covered/uncovered; refrigerate for 8-12 hours if the room is warm and overheating is a concern.
  • Unmold when firm, typically 18-24 hours. Cure at least 6 weeks; 8 weeks preferred.
Your 10 g kaolin is an additive, not primarily the colorant. Disperse it ahead of time in about 1 tablespoon of your already-measured recipe oil. Then mix that slurry thoroughly into your entire pot of melted oils BEFORE you add the goat-milk/lye solution.
For the colored swirl, use a CP-stable mica, not more clay. Pre-disperse a small amount of mica in a little oil taken from your measured recipe oils.
For a swirl, adding dispersed mica after dividing at very thin trace/emulsion is a standard technique specifically because it preserves working time.
