Calendula Silk and Rosemary Shampoo
Notes:
- Add olive oil and calendula flowers to a small sauce pan and heat on low for 15 minutes. Strain.
- Combine oils (including the infused olive oil) and butters in a large pot. Melt and cool to 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Place a small ball (about the size of your pinky nail)into the water BEFORE adding the lye to it.
- Wearing appropriate safety equipment, go outside and add lye to water and stir until dissolved. Let cool until it is around 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
- When both oils and lye water are at desired temperatures, pour lye water into oils and use a stick blender to blend on and off until light trace.
- Add any colorants, panthenol and essential oil and blend.
- Pour into a lined mold and insulate for 24 hours.
- Remove from mold after 24 hours, cut, and then cure for 4-6 weeks.
