• Citric acid - use at 1-3% of oil weight. Dissolve in twice amount room temp water (by weight), blend into oils
• 10 g citric acid neutralizes 6.24 g NaOH. Add extra lye - 12.48g NaOH for 20g citric TOTAL NaOH = 152.28g
• use 4-5% lactate (% of oils)

[Citric acid reacts with lye to make sodium citrate, which reduces the amount of sticky soap scum created when lye soap is used in water by chelating the metals that create the scum, and reduces the likelihood of rancidity (DOS) in the soap. But this also neutralises some of the lye - you need to add extra lye or the citric acid will increase the superfat in your soap.]
