Measure out 10 ounces of distilled water and stir in 2 tbsp of citric acid. Be sure to do this step before adding the lye.

Slowly and carefully add 5.6 ounces of lye to 10 ounces of citric acid water and gently stir until the lye has fully dissolved and the liquid is clear. Set aside to cool.

Melt and measure 28.8 ounces of coconut oil and 3.2 ounces of castor oil. Allow the lye water and the oils to cool to 120° F or below.

Once your lye and oils have cooled to about 120 degrees, combine your lye water and oils using a stick blender.

Whisk or stick blend in your .8 ounces of essential oil.

Continue stick blending until your soap is thick enough to support the trailings on the surface and the consistency is slightly thinner than pudding. This is perfect for pouring.

Pour the soap into the mold. Scrape the sides of the bowl so you get every last bit!

Firmly tap the mold on the counter to pop any air bubbles. Spray the top with 99% isopropyl alcohol to help prevent soda ash.
Allow the soap to sit in the mold for 1-2 days. Unmold and let them cure for 4-6 weeks. Cure the soap in a cool, dry place with plenty of airflow. That allows excess water to evaporate, which makes the bars firmer and last longer by the sink.
