Big Red Barn Charcoal Mud Facial Bar - See Notes for Adjustments

Adjusted to 5% SF, 2:1 Water:Lye, Milk in Oil Method. and added Liquid Silk (Brambleberry) and Sodium Lactate. Rosemary OleoResin Extract and Sodium Citrate added to prevent DOS and soap scum.

1. Melt coconut and palm oils to 180*F.
2. Measure lye in a container. Measure distilled water in a heat safe container. Add sodium citrate to water and stir until dissolved. Pour lye into water and stir until dissolved. Set aside.
3. Measure oils and milk into heat safe container. The room temperature oils and milk will bring the temperature of the heated oils down. Target temperature is 100-120*F.
4. Add ROE to oils once cooled.
5. Add sodium lactate to cooled lye water.
6. Add lyewater and Brambleberry liquid silk to oils mixture and stick blend until emulsified.
7. Divide the soap into two equal parts. Mix the Dead Sea Mud and half of the fragrance into one half and the activated charcoal and other half of the fragrance to the other half of the soap. Blend each to full trace (milkshake consistency).
8. Pour the Dead Sea Mud batter into the soap mold. Allow both halves of the soap batter to thicken a bit to be able to spread the top layer and not have it poke through into the bottom layer.
9. When the black batter will spread like Cool Whip, spread ½ - 1 inch over the first layer and smooth out. Use swirl tool to swirl the two layers. Then spread the remaining soap batter over the top.
10. Tap mold firmly on counter to remove any air bubbles. Add texture to soap top as desired.
11. Spritz with91-99% isopropyl alcohol to prevent soda ash, if desired.
12. Allow soap to sit for ~24 hours. Unmold and cut when soap is firm enough to feel like cheddar cheese. Allow cut bars to cure for 4-6 weeks,
