Hello all,

I am very new to soapmaking.

I plan in making a soap cutting jig similar to the image below. What type of wire is suggested ? Will (ordinary) guitar wire string(s) suffice or is there any special requirement (like type of metal, guage, hardness etc.) ?

Thank you in advance.

P.S. If plausible, I wish to use this (some chinese brand guitar strings).

Hello @arunagirinathar ,

Any thin enough string will do, of course it should hold to the stress that will be applied, I usually use thin fishing lines, they have a good tensile strength and can be bought by the roll.
