TOTAL Newby here. You can adjust the lye % in the calculator. How do I know what % I should be using. That's not something I want to guess about. Is there a standard?
Consider using a static ratio, instead of %. That why you always can have the correct amount of lye and water in your recipe.
For cold process, I do 2:1 water:lye unless I want to slow down the trace a little and use 2.5:1. That’s pretty standard. For hot process, I’ll use a little more water, 2.5:1 as a start.
