Master Batch

I’m trying to figure out how to master batch & I just don’t understand how.
I’ve searched on the soap making forum & it’s still confusing. Can someone please help in how to calculate a master batch, your help is much appreciated.

Master batch is when you make up your lye and water and store it for future use. Usually you mix a strong lye solution so you can still add milk or other liquids in a batch. Typically it’s a 50% solution.

Appreciate your help:
After I make my MB’ When I want to make a few batches from it’ Do I input recipe in soap calculator again choosing lesser amount of oils used, & select MB? Seams like it would be guessing the oil amount from MB?. Would lye be off?

I’m doubling the recipe now’ it would be nice to have oil‘s / fats ready to go in a MB. But I’m confused as to calculate a couple of batches from a master batch. I hope I’m not confusing you.

You can click ‘masterbatch’ and build your recipe as usual.

And use the amount of oils as usual, no matter the size of the batch. In this case,I wanted a 25 ounce batch.

Here’s how I set mine up:

I used 100% olive oil in this example, and the software then gives me the amount of additional water to add, as well as the amount of masterbatched lye/water mixture.
