Hi all! I must be missing something because I cannot find a presentation of "what's new" in Soapmakingfriend relative to other calculators - although for most things I can see for myself. My question is: the "conditioning" number, does it just take into account palmitic and stearic, or does it also take into account the oleic number? I know soapcalc only considered the former, is this still the case with the Soapmakingfriend calculator? thank you in advance, Orla

Hi Yooper! Thanks! With my mini-tests, that's what I had concluded. It's funny how the original soapcalc continues to almost straight-jacket all subsequent calculators!!! Someone suggested that the cleansing 'norms' be changed from 12-22 in line with the collective knowledge of experienced soapmakers (which would bring those numbers way down). Similarly with 'conditioning' we know that stearic and palmitic make soap milder (as well as ricinoleic and oleic etc). Thank you and have a nice day!
