    Los Nieto As Made

I divided this batch into 4 x the 4 actively participating in my workshop at the Nieto house where I was visiting with my grandson Gabriel. We did 4 lye batches: 2 rice water, 1 cucumber & sugar water, and potato peels liquefied and the water allowed to settle then poured off. All the waters...

    Lavender Bastille Soap

This recipe is for taking to Nanny on my trip in July 2022. I will make a separate identical batch but with the essential oil patchouli bcs I don't think she'll like it. This recipe w/ only lavender and sweet orange will be hers. I'm making this one first to see how the smell comes out. Eta: The...

Can't get recipe out of "Edit" mode

I began a recipe, Shave Soap-No.1, yesterday and tapped the Edit button because I'd actually started filling the recipe out some time ago. And kept changing several things, after which I'd press Save because it's an old habit. Some things, like the date and 2 of the oils/fats, were edited at the...

ruined the dishwasher with soapmaking tools, bowls

I think the only mistake you made in putting them in the dishwasher was not adding detergent (unless you just didn't mention it in the post). The soap batter, while still liquid, hasn't quite become soap yet, it's still raw. It's capable of burning your hands and why you should keep your gloves...

ruined the dishwasher with soapmaking tools, bowls

Have you tried pouring boiling water with washing soda, some dishwashing detergent or liquid laundry detergent over those dishwasher parts? I mean a potful of water with those ingredients, maybe a gallon or 2. I usually don't put my stuff in the dishwasher because ours stopped working a while...

    Copying Recipes from others

I'm writing some time later, obviously, but I'm also wondering about this issue. I've not had anyone copying or even borrowing my recipes but they're generic enough that if anyone did, they'd be easily modified and passed on as their own with no one the wiser. However, there are some additions...

    Soleseif 3-Made in Juneau

Finally figured out what I did: I doubled all the oils except the lard. In order to correct the percentages to make the recipe less drying from too much CO76F I added 300g of olive oil. That brought its % to 30, the CO76F down to just under 25%,and the castor to just under 5%. So a much better...

    70Olive - 30Lard Soap w/ Honey & Oat Milk

This is an oatmeal milk recipe, might add some of the leftover pulp to the fats after I squeeze all the liquid out of them, but will also add ground cinnamon to the lard as I leave it to melt in the crockpot. Might also pulse the pulp in the VitaMix now that I think about it. The oatmeal has...

    Juneau Brine Soap

This is a soleseif soap recipe, or brine soap. The salt amount should be 25% of the water weight and dissolved in the water BEFORE adding the lye. Allow the brine to sit for at least a half hour before adding the lye to make sure the salt has completely dissolved.

Easy Bath, Face And Body Soap

We won't add anything complicated to this recipe except for some colloidal oatmeal for slip, but we'll add it at first sign of trace. The water used is from soaking a bit of the ground oatmeal ahead of time, or some aloe vera juice, or bottled water. So, one recipe, 3 types of soaps. This recipe...

    The Cheap Date Soap

Batch division by fragrance and additives: Tea tree, peppermint and patchouli for the biggest part, maybe half the batch; Tea tree and peppermint for a fourth, with cocoa and cinny; and the one with coffee grounds will be 40% Tea tree and 60% peppermint.

    New Soleseif, Divided Batch

Batch divisions are by fragrance: tea tree, pprmnt and patchouli; tea tree and patchouli; patchouli, mandarin, and tangerine; and unscented. I also added about 2 tbs of water to the lye container to dissolve some of the salt that had precipitated out of the lye solution. Even so, there was a...
