Hi.
I'm Trish. I've been soaping since I was about 11 (my baby just turned 22). My grandmother was a Chemist turned chemistry teacher and made her own soap. She insisted that I learn the science.
I am a Hospice RN, Certified End Of Life practitioner (INELDA), Chemistry Major (was going to be a Chemist, grandmothers terminal illness led me to Inelda then on to nursing - a bit backward from most who begin in nursing then jump to hospice).
So, I've been making soap for 30+ years total... opened my small business 5 years ago, still learning new tricks.

Any idea when an update might come to fix niggly things that were promised awhile ago? I dont mind paying for this software if it means it will get updated.

Hi, I’ve been making soap for about seven years and just came across this forum. I’d been following but not posting on SMF for years and never registered until last week, then tried to log in and a message popped up saying I was banned because of spam! What? I never used it before as a registered user. the Message said to contact the administrator if this is in error. Well, I searched and searched and could not find any contact info. So frustrating. The good news is that I found this lovely site! Anyway, I look forward to participate and exchange ideas with other soap makers.

Hello everyone!
Thank you so much for making this site to help newbies like me make soap! This site is awesome! So user friendly!
I got into soapmaking to develop unscented and simple soaps without all the additives and preservatives found in store bought soaps.
So far I love making and using liquid soaps but I love the fact that bars of soap don't need containers and plastics dispensers so I'm trying to get used to using more soap bars.
I have been working in dental offices for 25 years and I'm into DIY.

I've been making soap for about a year and a half and feel consistent enough in my output that I'm considering making a go a the business end. I love the features beyond the calculator where I can keep track of inventory and spending and I'm sure there is so much deeper to go. I'm considering retiring work in a few years and would like to start dipping my toe in the business waters now to make a smooth transistion later. Thanks for such a great resource!
I'm a Family Engagement Specialist for a pubic school district but also a lifetime Girl Scout, a quilter and Audible book listener.

Good morning Trish
I am new in the group and I think I'm hooked. Question I recently started making soap as a hobby and hoping to start selling soon; however is there a reason why my soap looks dry and not shiny. What is the trick to that?

I use a tiny amount of beeswax in mine and that leaves a gorgeous shine, also stems your soaps with a clothes steamer, they come up beautifully shiny and remove any soda ash you might have.
